Master Chief Ann Logan, a native of New Hampshire, enlisted in the Coast Guard in October 1993 on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and most recently served as the Command Master Chief for the Deputy Commandant for Operations.

Previous assignments include Command Master Chief for Director of Operational Logistics in Norfolk, VA and the Coast Guard Aviation Logistics Center (ALC) in Elizabeth City, NC. During her tour at ALC, she also temporarily served as the Command Master Chief for the Aviation Technical Training Center. Command Senior Chief and Incident Management Division Manager - Marine Safety Unit Port Arthur, TX; Instructor - Chief Petty Officer Academy, Petaluma, CA; Response Department Chief - Sector Northern New England, South Portland, ME; Lead Petty Officer - Marine Safety Detachment, Unalaska, AK; Lead Petty Officer - Marine Safety Unit, Valdez, AK; Port State Control Examiner and Trainer - Marine Safety Office Puget Sound, Seattle, WA; Pollution Investigator - Marine Safety Office, San Diego, CA and Marine Safety Field Office, Coram, NY; Station Bellingham, WA; and the USCGC POLAR STAR (WAGB-10), Seattle, WA.

Master Chief Logan is a graduate of the Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Academy Class CLXI (161), and the Coast Guard Senior Enlisted Leadership Course. Her numerous awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, four Coast Guard Commendation Medals, and four Coast Guard Achievement Medals. She earned the Marine Safety Insignia during her first tour as an MST3. She also received the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal for her dedicated service as an officer in the Chief Petty Officer’s Association (CPOA) spanning four chapters over fifteen years.

In April 2021, Master Chief Logan was selected as the second Silver Ancient Trident; an honor presented to the enlisted member with the longest time serving in the Marine Safety field, and whose personal character and performance standards exemplify the most venerable practitioners of Marine Safety.

She has earned an associate degree in biology, and will soon complete her Bachelor’s Degree in Science.

Master Chief Logan is married to MKC Robert Vernon, Jr. (now retired) of Chesapeake, VA, and has two wonderful step-children, Sarah and Matthew.
