Command Master Chief Marques A. Johnson

Master Chief Marques Johnson assumed the duties as Command Master Chief for the 8th Coast Guard District in August 2019. His primary responsibility is to advise the 8th Coast Guard District Commander on issues and initiatives pertaining to all Coast Guard members and their families throughout the district, encompassing 26 states, including the Gulf of Mexico coastline from Florida to Mexico, the adjacent offshore waters and outer continental shelf, as well as the inland waterways of the Mississippi, Ohio, Missouri, Illinois, and Tennessee River systems. Prior to this assignment, Master Chief Johnson served as the Command Master Chief of Coast Guard Sector / Air Station Corpus
Christi, TX.

Master Chief Johnson enlisted in the Coast Guard on September 28, 1998 from Ontario California. His other previous assignments include: Command Master Chief CG Sector Charleston, SC; Finance and Supply Division Chief of CG Sector Guam; CG Sector Puget Sound, Seattle, WA; CGC POLAR STAR; CG Station Morro Bay, CA; CGC THETIS and CG Station New Orleans, LA.

Master Chief Johnson is a proud graduate of the Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer's Academy Class 172 and the Coast Guard Senior Enlisted Leadership Course Class 48. He also holds a Bachelor's Degree in Sports Management from American Military University.

Master Chief Johnson's personal awards include a Meritorious Service Medal, two Coast Guard Commendation Medals, two Coast Guard Achievement Medals, the Permanent Cutterman’s insignia, and other personal, unit and service awards.
