Mr. Albert Curry, Jr.

Deputy for Materiel Readiness (DCMS-DMR)

Mr. Albert Curry, Jr. assumed the duties as the Deputy for Materiel Readiness at U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters in May 2024. Reporting to the Deputy Commandant for Mission Support, Mr. Curry provides oversight and guidance for program management of Coast Guard engineering and logistics, acquisitions, contracting, security, and command, control, communications, Computer & information technology (C4IT). His responsibilities include the execution of a $2.5 billion annual budget, leading over 10,000 personnel and oversight of 25 acquisition initiatives representing a $42 billion life cycle investment portfolio.

Mr. Curry previously served as the Chief Integrator for Mission Support at U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters from 2023-2024 and the Deputy for Material Readiness from 2022-2023. From 2011 to 2022, Mr. Curry served as Assistant Commandant for Engineering and Logistics, where he oversaw all naval, civil, aeronautical, and industrial engineering, logistics, and environmental and energy management programs for the Coast Guard. Mr. Curry also served as the Deputy Program Manager for U.S. Coast Guard Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Major Acquisitions Programs and Deputy Program Manager for the Rescue 21 Project.

Prior to joining the Coast Guard, Mr. Curry served in the U.S. Navy. His active duty at sea assignments include: Electrical/Auxiliary Officer and Main Propulsion Assistant aboard the USS CONOLLY (DD-979); Engineering Officer aboard the USS BARNSTABLE COUNTY (LST- 1197); Material Officer for Amphibious Squadron EIGHT; Executive Officer aboard the USS NICHOLSON (DD-982); and Commanding Officer of the USS PENSACOLA (LSD-38).

His Navy ashore assignments included: Assistant Program Manager for the Global Positioning Systems Program Office for ships and submarines; Deputy Program Manager for the Tomahawk Cruise Missile Mission Planning System Program; Technical Director and Major Program Manager for the Cruiser Conversion Program; Chief of Staff for Program Executive Officer Aircraft Carriers; Warfare Systems Engineer for Amphibious/Auxiliary/US Coast Guard ships in the Program Executive Office, Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO-IWS); Deputy for Naval Sea Systems Command's Task Force Total Force; and Director, Naval Sea Systems Command Total Force Development Office.

Mr. Curry is a native of Edgefield, South Carolina, and received his Commission and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electronic Engineering Technology from Savannah State University and his Master of Science Degree in Systems Engineering (Electronic Warfare) from the Naval Postgraduate School. He is a graduate of the Advanced Program Management Course at the Defense Systems Management College, Fort Belvoir, and is a certified Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Department of Defense (DoD) Acquisition Level III Acquisition Program Manager. He was recognized by the Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard with a Superior Achievement Award and by the President of the United States as a 2018 Meritorious Presidential Rank Award and 2023 Distinguished Presidential Rank Award recipient.
