Michael A. Brewer assumed the duties as the Command Master Chief for Coast Guard Cyber Command on May 26, 2022. As the Command Senior Enlisted Leader, he serves as the principal advisor to the CGCYBER Commander on all cyber related missions impacting the CG workforce matters and policies. Prior to his current assignment, Master Chief Brewer served as the Marine Science Technician Rating Force Master Chief at Coast Guard headquarters.
Some of his additional assignments included his first tour of duty aboard Coast Guard Cutter Rush in Honolulu, HI; Marine Science Technician “A” School in Yorktown, VA; Marine Safety Office San Francisco Bay, CA; Port Security Unit Detachment, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; Sector San Francisco, CA; Training Center Yorktown, VA; Sector Boston, MA; PACAREA Incident Management and Sector Boston, MA as the Silver Badge Command Master Chief.
In addition to these assignments, Master Chief Brewer deployed to support Operation Enduring Freedom as well as numerous natural disasters and major oil spills such as Deepwater Horizon and Hurricane Katrina.
Master Chief Brewer is a graduate of the National Defense University Keystone Command Senior Enlisted Leader Course Class 23-2, Coast Guard Senior Enlisted Leadership Course Class 03-12, the Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Academy Class CLXV, Air Force Non-Commissioned Officer Academy, CG Leadership and Management School, and other service-related schools.
CMC Brewer’s personal awards include the Coast Guard Meritorious Service Medal, Three Coast Guard Commendation Medals, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Three Coast Guard Achievement Medals, two Coast Guard Letters of Commendation Ribbons, and numerous other personal and service awards. He also earned the Marine Safety Insignia as well as Rating Force Master Chief Blue Badge, Command Master Chief Silver Badge and Command Master Chief Gold Badge. Master Chief Brewer also received the Sector San Francisco Enlisted Person of the Year award in 2005.
CMC Brewer was born in Atlanta, GA and grew up in Houston, TX. He enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard on August 17, 1999. He has been married to his wife Kelly-Lynn since 2005 and they are blessed with their three children, Emma, Keegan, and Hanna.
