Location:

On Seven Mile Beach, at Avalon, N.J. 7/8 mile south of Townsend Inlet, and 3 3/4 miles south southwest of Ludlam Beach Light; 39-05' 50"N x 74-43' 10"W

Abandoned in 1948


Remarks:

After occupying the site for several years it was found that higher ground would have to be acquired. A site was acquired in 1893 and the old site abandoned in 1894.

Keepers:

John W. Swain was appointed on DEC 15, 1894 and was transferred to Tatham’s on October 6, 1904.

Frank Nichols a Gold Life Saving Medal recipient was appointed on October 29, 1906 and was still serving in 1915.
