Abandoned in 1948

Remarks:

On 8 September 1849 a tract of land was acquired. This conveyance was marked abandoned and there is no evidence that a station was ever located on this land. The first correspondence relating to Brigantine Station is dated 1888 and indicates, at that time, the Station was located on land to which the U.S. had no title. In the same year, a severe storm greatly damaged the buildings. The station was moved some 500 feet north to a point of safety on land owned by a Senator Harner. In 1892 it again became necessary to move buildings to prevent them from being washed away.
