Remarks:
Cuttyhunk station was built in 1889 (completed, equipped and placed in commission in 1890) on a site originally described as "on Cuttyhunk Island, near east end abreast Cuttyhunk Harbor." A new boathouse and launchway were added in 1912.
The station is listed as being still active until it disappeared from the records in July 1964.
Keepers:
The first keeper was David P. Bosworth, who was appointed on December 6, 1889 and served until his resignation on January 19, 1894. Next came Darius Weekes (January 20, 1894 until reassigned to the Pamet River station on September 16, 1904), William P. Paine (September 9, 1904 until reassigned to the Highland station on July 8, 1907), Darious Weekes (reassigned back from the Pamet River station and served until March 24, 1915 when he was retired at age 64 with more than thirty years service), and Edward E. Lombard (acting until his appointment on January 18, 1916 and incapacitated on November 10, 1921). The position of keeper/officer in charge is listed as vacant until the arrival of Adolph A. Rohdin on September 25, 1925; he was reassigned to the Point Judith station on August 25, 1928. He is followed by Chief Boatswains Mates Elmer Nutting (1928, to Coskata in 1929), E. F. Sanborn (from Coskata in 1929), J. E. Paul, Jr. (1931), A. E. Newcomb (1932, to the Cahoons Hollow station in 1934), and A. Volton (1936).
