Near north end of Five Mile Beach, at Hereford Inlet Light; 39-00' 14"N x 74-46' 55"W in 1878; 39-00' 20"N x 74-47' 20"W in 1915;

Remarks:

Station was moved in 1881 to save it from encroachment of the sea. In 1888 a larger and more desirable site was acquired across the street from the former sire and adjoining the lighthouse reservation.

Keepers & Officers-In-Charge:

John R. Ludlam was appointed in 1853. It is unknown when he left service.

Maurice Cresse was appointed on JAN 17, 1862 and resigned on AUG 19, 1881.

Jesse A. Price was appointed on AUG 11, 1881 and dismissed from service on DEC 18, 1882.

Christopher Ludlam a Gold Life Saving Medal recipient was appointed on JAN 2, 1883 and resigned from service on MAY 7, 1897.

Henry W. Hildreth a Silver Life Saving Medal recipient was appointed on JUN 2, 1897 and resigned from service on MAR 8, 1902.

Henry S. Ludlam was appointed on MAR 20, 1902 and left the service in 1915.

Albert A. Church was appointed in 1915 and was still serving in 1915.
