Location:

South side of Little Egg Inlet and 3-3/8 miles southwest of Tucker Beach Light; 39°-27' 30" N x 74° 19' 30" W

Abandoned in 1945


Remarks:

The station was moved from the original site because of inroads of the sea and was relocated on land that was not owned or leased by the U. S.  In 1885 a commission recommended that a new a new site be acquired.  New site was acquired in 1894.

 

Keepers:

Joseph P. Shourds was appointed on NOV 22, 1872 and left the service in 1873.

William F. Gaskill was appointed on NOV 13, 1873 and resigned from service on AUG 19, 1881.

Major B. Ireland was appointed on AUG 11, 1881 and resigned from service on JAN 1, 1884.

Charles H. Horner was appointed on JAN 2, 1884 and died in service on APR 30, 1890.

James Rider was appointed on AUG 15, 1890 and was reassigned to Great Egg Station.

Alexander Falkinburg was appointed on JUL 2, 1898 and was reassigned to Harvey’s Cedar Station on MAY 10, 1901.

Joseph H. Riley was appointed on MAY 10, 1901 and was reassigned to Great Egg Station on APR 18, 1905.

Thomas Endicott was appointed on APR 14, 1905 and was still serving in 1915.
