Remarks:
The original site for the station was acquired in 1878. Due to the lack of funds it was impossible to erect the station for about 15 years. When funds did become available this site was no longer suitable and consequently the land was never used for life-saving purposes.
Up to 30 JUN 1935 the station responded to 465 calls for assistance. The most spectacular call was the rescue of 15 men from the stranded steamer Philetus Sawyer on 27 October 1916 of which part of the crew were badly injured and required medical attention.
Keepers:
Peter O. Lavenger was appointed keeper on 3 March 1896 and left in 1915.
Frederick M. Staal was appointed keeper in 1915.
Boatswain's Mate 1/c Arthur R. Anderson was appointed officer in charge on 7 September 1934.
