Turned over to the GSA in 1955 and in 1957 it was transferred to the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Remarks:
Turned over to GSA in 1955. In 1957 the original station was conveyed to the Commonwealth of Virginia. A new site was obtained in 1896 due to the eroding away of the original site. Another site was acquired in 1900.
Keepers:
James T. Nelson was appointed in 1876 and left the service in 1877.
William R. Williams APR 5, 1877 and left the service in 1877.
Charles H. Crumb was appointed on JUL 1, 1878 and resigned in OCT 1, 1894 due to the physical reasons.
John R. Andrews was appointed on OCT 1, 1894 and was still serving in 1915.
