Remarks:
Poyners Hill Coast Guard Station was located near Poplar Branch, Nort Carolina, 5 5/8 miles south of Currituck Beach Light. The land for the station was acquired by donation from the Currituck Shooting Club in 1883. By that time, a station building had been standing for nearly five years. The first Keeper was appointed on December 2, 1878 and the first crew followed thirteen days later. Poyners Hill Station was rendered inactive and closed on May 24, 1937.
Keepers:
V. B. Etheridge was appointed on JAN 10, 1880 and transferred on AUG 20, 1881.
Avery J. Austin was appointed on NOV 22, 1878 and was transferred to Hill Station on MAR 11, 1887.
John F. Westcott was appointed on MAR 26, 1887 and was still serving in 1915.
