Remarks:
This station was built "near West Quoddy Head Light" in 1873. Until 1 June 1883, it was carried in the records as West Quoddy Head station. In the 1882 Annual Report, mention is made that a shed had "been constructed for the reception of apparatus and stores" and , in 1916, the launching facilities were extensively improved. New dwellings were built in 1917 and again in 1919. The Work Relief and Public Works Appropriation Act of 1938 provided $42,750 for a new boathouse and launchway. The station remained on the list of active stations until 1 July 1970. The site was deeded to the State of Maine for educational purposes in 1974.
Keepers:
The first keeper was John Guptill, who was appointed at the age of 50 on 16 October 1874, but removed on 16 August 1875. Then came Albert H. Myers, who was appointed at the age of 34 on 16 August 1875 and resigned on 14 May 1902. Next came Clifton M. Cuptill, appointed on 22 May 1902 and serving until his reassignment to the Hampton Beach Station on 2 October 1926; he returned on 4 November 1927 and retired on 1 September 1930. Almond G. Maker was reassigned from the Damiscove Island Station on 9 November 1930 to serve as the next keeper and he remained until he retired on 1 August 1935.
