Remarks:
Station occupied land by permission from the Lighthouse Service. This station was built in 1898 and placed in operation in 1899--a keeper, Edward P. Sisson, was appointed on November 29, 1898 and served until October 10, 1904 when he was reassigned to the Fishers Island station. The original position was listed as "on Block Island, north end, near light." After Sisson, the keepers were Simon R. Sands (appointed October 6, 1904 and served until appointed as Assistant to the District Superintendent in Portsmouth, New Hampshire on July 22, 1915), John E. Tourgee (acting until appointed January 20, 1916 and reassigned to the Bay Shore station on February 9, 1919), Oswald A Littlefield (acting until his appointment and then immediately reassigned to the Watch Hill station on July 12, 1919), and Clarence E. Peckham (acting until his appointment on May 18, 1920 and then reassigned to the Fishers Island station). The position was vacant and the station was discontinued in 1922. Nevertheless, Amos P. Tefft was reassigned from Point Judith on June 24, 1922 and served until he retired on December 27, 1927. The station was listed as discontinued in 1922, was back in 1925, and disappeared from the listings in 1928.
