History:
The Advance was stationed at Sault Sainte Marie, MI, from World War I through 1924, when she exploded and sank. She returned to service 24 August 1924 and made passage to Chicago, IL, where she remained until October 1927. She returned to Sault Sainte Marie, MI, and was no longer in the Coast Guard register in 1940. She was renamed AB-1 on 6 November 1923.
