Aivik was a former steel-hulled fishing trawler acquired for Government use. 1942-1944 assigned to CINCLANT-stationed at Boston, MA; used for weather station duty and Greenland Patrol; 21 May 1943 rescued 42 survivors from the SS Svend Foyne, which had collided with an iceberg.
