History:
Thorgaut was a former whaler acquired from the War Shipping Administration. It cost the Government $13,750 to convert the vessel for war purposes. She was placed in commission on 28 December 1942 under the command of Ken Wilson, USCG.
Thorgaut was assigned to Commander, WESTSEAFRON and was based out of Treasure Island, San Francisco, California, one of six such patrol craft based there. She performed patrol duty during the war.
