Remarks:
One of two Search-class cutters, the other being Detector, built by Clark Cooke & Charles Gyles of Newport, Rhode Island. Both were built for a cost of $12,000 total.
Search replaced the third cutter named Massachusetts in Boston. She was commanded by Revenue Captain S. R. Trevett. She remained in service until 1820 when she was sold.
