Tender History:
Rose started life as a privately-owned 77-foot boat that was purchased in 1883. She was named the Grace Darling, after a famous daughter of a British lighthouse keeper. She was assigned to the 3rd Lighthouse District.
In August of 1892 she was renamed to Rose, the second tender to bear that name. She was rebuilt, with 15 feet added to her length, and was given a new powerplant. She was given another powerplant in 1894. She was sold out of service in 1899.
