A plant of the genus Crocus, widely cultivated in gardens and bearing variously colored flowers and grass-like leaves.

Tender History:

The United States Steam Launch Crocus was built for the Lighthouse Service and was assigned to the 6th Lighthouse District as an engineering tender.  It December 1873 her hull was coppered and she was transferred to Charleston, South Carolina where she assisted in the construction of the Morris Island Lighthouse.  She was transferred to Lazaretto Point in the 5th Lighthouse District.

She was sold in 1878.
