Vessel History:

A former fishing boat.  The EM in front of the name stood for Emergency Manning.  Coast Guard records usually kept the EM before the name of the vessel.  The Coast Guard chartered this vessel for patrol duty.  The charter costs $500 a month and the conversion cost was $105,872.

The EM Dow was assigned to the CARIBSEAFRON and was stationed in San Juan, Puerto Rico.  Her crew abandoned ship in a gale off Mayaguez, Puerto Rico and were rescued by the Coast Guard cutter Marion.
