Design & Service:
The Kil-class patrol gunboats were designed for coastal patrol and ASW during World War I. Eighty-one units were constructed for the Royal Navy. They were recognizable by their "double-ended" appearance.
1943-1944 assigned to the Armed School Section Base, Little Creek, VA and used for training; 1944 assigned to the 8th Coast Guard District--stationed at Gulfport, MS.
