Allen displays a page from an original letter by Alexander Hamilton to the commanding officers of the Revenue Cutter Service during a private showing at the National Archives, Wednesday, July 8, 2009. Allen, along with Coast Guard Vice Commandant Vice Adm. Vivien Crea, Rear Adm. William Baumgartner, Rear Adm. J.T. Riker and a small group of Coast Guard Headquarters staff were allowed to view several different logs and documents from various periods of the Coast Guard's history.
