Androscoggin, WPG/WHEC-68, 1958 Original caption states: "The 255-foot U.S. Coast Guard Cutter ANDROSCOGGIN, stationed at Miami, Fla., as a training and search and rescue ship, is now carrying specially trained U.S. Weather Bureau observers to gather upper-air weather information during her patrols in the Gulf of Mexico. The ANDROSCOGGIN makes a number of training cruises a year and performs search and rescue work in the South Atlantic and Gulf.
