U.S. Coast Guard bids farewell to China coast guard (FOR RELEASE)
(Aug. 20, 2007) SHANGHAI, China - The crew of the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Boutwell, a 378-foot High Endurance Cutter home ported in Alameda, Calif., bids farewell to the China coast guard here on Monday. Shanghai is the first stop for the Boutwell before heading to Yokosuka, Japan, and Petropavlovsk, Russia, as the Boutwell works with members of the North Pacific Coast Guard Forum. The Boutwell arrived in Shanghai on Thursday to learn from the China coast guard as well as demonstrate different techniques to help strengthen international maritime safety and security in the Northern Pacific Ocean and its borders.
