PA2 John Guzman, USCG
A portrait photo of PA2 John Guzman, USCG, in 1986. John Guzman illustrated the first Coast Guard coloring book published in December, 1985. After graduating with honors from the Defense Information School (DINFOS) he went on to become the first Puerto Rican production manager and illustrator of the flagship Coast Guard magazine Commandant's Bulletin. For more than 30 issues, he trained three editors in the first-ever Coast Guard use of Macintosh desktop publishing computers and software, while also creating digital clip art discs for service-wide use. He also served as a photojournalist, covering White House ceremonies and congressional subcommittee hearings. In addition to receiving a Unit Commendation with "O" Device, two Commandant's Letters of Commendation, and two Good Conduct Awards, PA2 Guzman also received an Achievement Medal upon being honorably discharged in 1990.
