"THE NAZIS RECRUITED THIS SPAR -- SPAR Helen Gregory, now a seaman, second class in the U.S. Coast Guard Women's Reserve and stationed in the first naval district, Boston, Mass., helped organize women's groups of sharpshooters in Poland, her parent's homeland, eight years ago. She was born in Newark, N.J., but lived in the town of Jalskliska, Poland, with her parents until she was 18 years old. She has had no word from her family in Poland since Pearl Harbor. Her brother, Alexander Gregory, who was also a sharpshooter in Poland, is now a lieutenant in the U.S. Army Signal Corps."
