ICEBREAKER ON THE KENNEBEC RIVER (FOR RELEASE)
BATH, Maine (Mar. 18, 2005)--The Coast Guard Cutter Tackle breaks ice on the Kennebec River near Bath, Maine today for flood relief. Melting snow drains into the ice-choked river, threatening to flood towns from Gardiner, Maine, to Bath, Maine. The Coast Guard Cutters Bridle, Tackle and Thunder Bay break the ice to allow the snowmelt to drain harmlessly into the Atlantic Ocean. USCG photo by PA2 Andrew Shinn
