North American SNJ-5/6 "Texan"
Historical Information:
The Coast Guard acquired 15 SNJ-5 and -6 models of North American's "Texan," on loan from the Navy, between 1943 and 1945. They were used for proficiency training, courier, liaison, and administrative duties. At least one was assigned to each Coast Guard air station in the country. Five were also used for cross-country navigation training.
One crashed (no fatalities) while the rest were returned to the Navy by 1948.
